This simple type of arcade action has been exploited since the early days of Atari. That part is easy to translate into video games. At its most basic definition, it’s a game about teams trying to put a puck past the opponent’s goaltender. Quite simply, hockey is a game which is easy to emulate, but difficult to perfect. Other games have tried to wrestle the title away from the venerable franchise over the years, and yet, EA is the one still standing. If that was the case, EA Sports would not be the only contender with its NHL series. Not all hockey video games are created equal.
